About the Event

"You Got a Friend in Me” Writing Workshop

Join Eileen Moskowitz-Palma, author of the School Squad and Camp Clique series, for "You Got a Friend in Me” a writing workshop to help create short stories about two friends resolving their conflict.

The most important components of a page-turning short story are character and conflict. In this workshop, students will write short stories about two friends who are having a problem. The workshop will include a mini lesson about how to generate a conflict that will drive the short story. There will be a brainstorming session where students can discuss the types of problems friends have, then students will use a writing prompt to begin writing. Students will have the opportunity to share their work and give each other positive and helpful feedback.
